MALAYSIA DECLARES ITS SUPPORT FOR THE BONE & JOINT DECADE!

On 2nd September 2004, our Minister of Health has signed the declaration of support by Malaysian Government for the Bone and Joint Decade (BJD). MOA had attempted to highlight this issue to the Ministry two years ago through a Dialogue but was not successful. The Malaysian Rheumatology Society and Malaysian Osteoporotic Association had subsequently tried to do the same but did not get very far. When we confirmed that the Chairman of BJD, Professor Lars Lidgren, would be coming for the 14th Triennial Congress of Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association 2004, MOA had again approached the Ministry and eventually managed to get the declaration signed. With this, we will be able to officially participate in international activities related in the prevention and treatment of bone and joint problems including traumatology. MOA is also expecting more joint projects with other local organisations to work towards improving bone and joint health in our community.

For those interested in BJD projects, please refer to the official website, www.boneandjointdecade.org for more information.

MOA AGM/ASM 2005

We are happy to announce that the MOA ASM/AGM 2005 will be held from 12th to 15th May 2005 at the Mega Hotel, Miri, Sarawak, East Malaysia. We are expecting a good number of attendees for this event as this time, we have chosen an exciting and fresh location not only catering to the participants but also to the families of participants with nearby activities such as the National Park and Niah Caves, and Mulu Caves just a plane ride away. A great getaway towards the east!

Please mark these dates in your diary!
